Electrolytes
Electrolytes and why are they important?
If you practice Bikram yoga regularly, we recommend that you take an electrolyte to restore the sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium you lose through sweating. These are important minerals that need to be replaced. Signs of electrolyte deficiency include dizziness/headaches, cramping and fatigue.
Electrolytes are contained in most sport drinks, but make sure you get a drink that is low in sugar. Some of the most popular brands are very high in sugar and low in actual electrolytes. The brand we recommend is Shotz which we do sell at the studio. If you are doing Bikram on a regular basis you will need to take in electrolytes either before or after your class.
